COLLECTOR IN IDRIJA: slovenian industrial town

Industry, IT and sustainability

According to legend, in 1490, a maker of wooden vessels discovered a shimmering substance in a stream in the area of present-day Idrija, a city in Slovenia, which was later found to be mercury. From a former mining town, Idrija, which also boasts the oldest real estate in Slovenia, has developed into a town with strong industrial companies. The collector was founded in 1963 - the same year when Velentina Tereškova became the first woman in space in the Vostok 6 spacecraft and when the first keyboard telephone appeared.
