FRIDOLIN KAVČIČ: firing periscope

Invention and engineering

Fridolin Kavčič, a Slovene officer during the Austro-Hungarian period, proved himself with various practical inventions in the field of military engineering, such as a sighting mirror for inspecting incisions in a rifle barrel ter "brzosedlar" which allows the horse to be saddled or saddled with a single grip. The most famous is his firing periscope, which allowed a soldier to shoot from cover without exposing his head and chest, which saved the lives of many.
