In Slovenia, people throw away about 12 million cubic meters of water while showering, because they are waiting for hot water because they do not have a built-in circular system in their bathrooms. At the time, 17-year-old student Jure Miklavčič was disturbed by the fact that so much drinking water is consumed while waiting for hot water. He developed a passive diverter valve that diverts water, in the time before the inflow of hot water, into a dedicated storage tank.
